Getting Dental Crowns in Surrey and Langley
Have a damaged tooth that needs fixing? Dental crowns can help. Crowns are a procedure used to restore a tooth to its former glory. It works to rebuild the shape and appearance of a damaged tooth, while also improving its appearance. If you’re thinking about getting dental crowns, here’s what you need to know.
Why Would I Need a Dental Crown?
Dental crowns not only serve several functional purposes, but can also contribute to helping you achieve your desired aesthetic for your smile. Dental crowns are a great restorative dentistry option for a variety of oral health issues, such as:
- Offering protection for teeth that have weakened from decay
- Holding together parts of a cracked tooth
- Restoring a broken or run-down tooth
- Supporting a tooth with a large filling
About Our Crowns
Think of a crown as a “cap” for your tooth – it covers up any pre-existing conditions while protecting the tooth from further damage over time. Dental crowns can be made from porcelain and/or metal. Metal crowns are more resistant to breakage but do tend to look more artificial. Porcelain crowns closely resemble the translucency of your natural teeth.
At Flagship Dental, we offer a wide range of porcelain dental crowns for our patients in Surrey and Langley. We pride ourselves on making our crowns fit seamlessly – they should integrate flawlessly with the rest of your pearly whites.

FAQs About Dental Crowns
How much do crowns cost?
The average cost of a dental crown in Surrey and Langley is around $1500. The price varies based on the material of your crown and how many crowns you will be getting. Your insurance provider may cover a portion of the cost, so it would be best to check with your provider to see what they cover. All of our services are charged according to the BC fee guide issued from BCDA.
Can you do Same Day Crowns?
If our patients require one or two porcelain or zirconia crowns on teeth outside of the aesthetic zone (not the front teeth), we can usually fit these on the same day. If the front teeth require crowns, or if you would like a gold crown, we work with a local lab to create these, so you will be asked to schedule a second appointment once they have been created. We will fit you with a temporary crown until then.
Will I experience any pain during the procedure?
It’s common to experience some tooth sensitivity or to feel slightly sore after receiving a dental crown. That feeling shouldn’t last long and you should be able to chew and talk as normal after the procedure.
How long do dental crowns last?
You can expect to have your dental crown last between 5 and 15 years, especially if you practice good oral hygiene habits. While a properly secured dental crown will hide many imperfections, it’s important to continue to see your dentist regularly, as decay could still occur underneath the tooth’s structure.
Can dental crowns be repaired?
Depending on the extent and severity of the damage, it may be possible to repair a dental crown. It is usually best to replace a crown so it can continue to serve its original purpose of protecting your teeth. However, little chips or roughened areas can be repaired through reshaping or smoothing.
